My 1992 Liteace/Townace FXV 2.0TD 4wd has developed an unusual noise eminating from around the turbo area.
It appears when the engine is revved, and it sounds a bit like a belt whining.
The turbo still appears to work and the turbo slight still goes on and off at the appropriate times.
I don't want to get rid of my car, but the noise is annoying. It can be heard over the engine when driving. A friendly mechanic couldn't put his finger on the problem and is worried that it is the turbo on the way out. Any ideas?

Sorry David,
I can't find your original response. I think I sent my first enquiry without a subject, and I can't find where the reply has gone.

check the bottom of the thread "townace 1991 model", but if you'd bring any further responses up in this thread...

Thanks for the advice David but everything seems connected and I still get the whining noise.
How difficult is it to fit a turbo, in terms of time? I'm not able to do it myself and would have to have a mechanic fix it for me.

Time? half a day if you've done it before. A bit longer if you run into problems...
