(Home) Coolant has bubbles

I have a 1990 SuperExtra 4x4 ,2CT, last week i changed the fan belt, now if i rev up all the dashboared lights come on. Also i have noticed that if i remove the rad cap there are lots of small bubbles (foam) although i do not have overheating problem could this be a sign the head gasket is going. Thanks for any help in advance Steve

Lights on means no charge. Either the replacement belt is too loose or the alternator or regulator have picked now to fail. Another possibility *might* be a broken wire in the loom from the alternator, I suppose, but that would be a long shot...

On the bubbles thing, it might not mean anything, depending on the type of coolant etc. Now if the system pressurises itself rapidly from cold, then I'd be more concerned. In lieu of a preper pressure test, try feeling the top hose after starting the engine from cold. It should be soft, and stay that way for some time after the engine is started.

checked alternator connector , all appears ok belt ok, could it be a faulty battery as there was not enough water in it, topped up but does no longer hold a charge. This would not have been nticable before as van used all the time and would not have had time to discharge.
