(Home) head gasket

Reading the BoK it seems that the head gasket on a Ace is a big problem. Are there any warning signs that anyone who hasn't had this problem can look out for.

Or is it advisable to get the gasket change anyway.

No don't go looking for trouble that isn't there. It's simply that cooling problems ie.overheating can result in a blown head gasket. If you keep on top of the cooling system by ensuring the rads are clear, coolant is regularly changed, stat and rad cap are working properly, levels are regularly checked and you drive sensibly, you may never need a gasket change.
