(Home) Townie rear window

Hiya,
We're new Townie owners, got it last year.I'm disabled(osteo-porosis and osteo arthritis)and suffer quite badly with back pain. For the joy of driving,I have to suffer that consequence. Not in our Townie,I don't.It's the best car I've ever driven, and even a trip to Scotland, left me with very little pain to endure. So,you see, they're therapeautic as well.
We have a lousy load of gits here, who think that it's funny to smash our rear screen. We've had a quote of £800.Anyone know where I can get one cheaper than that?I have the space boarded up,anyone know if that would cause it to fail its M.O.T.?
We have a cheapie Espace we're putting on the road,
but it's hardly comparable. There are a few minor problems with our Townie,i.e:all the warning lights come on when you keep your foot down hard;there's a humming sound that gets louder the faster you go(not the diff, that's been checked and re-greased);The air conditioning don't send out cold air, neither does the cool/hot box.Any advice on these?
This is a Super Extra version, and at the moment, until
the last-post sounds,I'm loathe to scrap it,but unless
I can find a cheaper screen,I'm stuffed.
Thanx for reading this.Take care now.
Stevey.

The rear window price is a bit high, a secondhand tailgate with glass can be purchased from BBCspares.com for just £295.

The dashboard lights lighting up when you put your foot down hard could be something as easy as a loose belt on the alternator.

The air conditioning may be as easy as a regassing of the system, when did you last have it serviced.

These are obviously the easiest causes and I'm sure others could give you more information to worry you further or you could check out the archives at Aceanswers, the link at the top of the page.

Farook,
Not wishing to jump the queue, but if Stevey doesn't want the rear door/window, would you give me second refusal on the door/rear screen, subject to availability and location to pick it up (I have a trailer to transport it) as I also am disabled and have a Townie with the same problem, some idiot put a lager bottle through my rear window!
