(Home) lucida diesel pump leak

Hello all, i am helping a friend sort out a bad diesel leak from a pump on a toyota lucinda ( the one after the townace) it has the 3ct engine and it looks like it has to come off because its leaking from the split between the body and the slab of metal that is used to connect the injector pipes to.
has anyone removed one?
is there an engine book like the 2ct has , and if there is does anyone know the part number so i can quote it at the dealers.
whats it like to time up because the cam belt will have to come off - i might as well replace it?

it looks very simular to the 2ct pump - its not the electric version being an early model ( i think its a 1993)

kind regards jim

Jim, if it *is* the distributor head seal, it's a bugger of a job. Have you checked that the timing plug is tight?
2c and 3c are identical other than stroke, it's only the installation that's a bit odd in the Estima.

hiya dave, ta for your reply. yep i have checked the timing plug - you mean the one in the centre of the injector pipe cluster with the copper washer behind and its ok.
im afraid it is that gap beteen the ali and the cast thats incontinant. As you say its gonna be a bugger of a job.

It's all gotta come out. If you're careful (and vewy vewy gentle) you should be able to pull the distributive head off without stripping the rest of the pump, As long as you have the pump sitting pulley end down. Look in RM025E at all the bits (springs, shims etc)- they'll try to make a bid for freedom when you lift the head. It can be done tho, I think there's a how-to somewhere on tdiclub.com for the Bosch pump, I'll have a hunt for you and email you a link if I can find it...
