(Home) hiace turbo pressure

Hi guy's!
Here's one for the 'annoracks' - as they say;or at least they used to!
Does anyone know what pressure the turbo spools up to in the 2.4 td 2L-TE Wagon 1989/90?

Because I intend to fit a Air/Water intercooler (don't laugh) the routing of the intake pipe will be longer - alot - thereby dropping the presure at the point of entry into the engine.
I have no info on the turbo, at all. Also, I'm not sure which is the best gauge to employ - PSI or Bar? Plus, I have to get an adjustable pressure valve - to compensate for pressure drop - and I'm not sure which is the best 'make' to buy because they all say that their make is superior!

What say you to the uninitiated in this area?

Boostvalve is the controller to get, as Darren Dawes won't send to the UK and his distributor is hellish dear IIRC.
But all you really need to do is to space the wastegate capsule away from the turbo by adding a washer or two at each mounting location. there's a how-to on one of the Celica sites, I believe.

8.7- 11.5psi is the spec for the earlier 2L-T.

Watch you don't overdo the boost. There's no turbo maps out there for the toyota units so we don't know how close they run to surge or stall. I happily ran my townie at 13psi with the intercooler, although the level of lag and loss caused by the intercooler and plumbing was minimal.
