(Home) ferries

Only owned my 2wd Super Extra since Feb 05.I would like to know what I book my Townie on the ferry as.There would seem to be a height issue.I can remember reading an item about this subject but cant for the life of me find it again.I seem to remember that Townies were given some sort of height exception by P&O.Has anyone any advice please.Found out about Townies by accident.I was looking to run just one car as well as my motorbikes. This vehicle had to be able to carry 7 people occasionally,be slept in (Caravanette) as I travel to Aberdeen from Leicestershire at least twice a year, and be able to carry stuff like a van.I cant think of a vehicle more suited than the jack of all trades Townie.P.S.Brilliant website,I have learned a lot from it already.Thanks.

john, ive used p and o ferries a few times for france.
its classed as a people carrier and they have no probs with it. the ferry booking form online will ask you the hieght - i always select the below 2.5 m option instead of the 1.8m for most - i think you will find you are talking about a very slight price diff.
hope this helps

I've just booked with Irish Ferries and the Townace was a listed option. No choice between 2 or 4WD though.
Cross channel and Isle of Wight we've been classed as the same as a Rover Discovery, over height for the low deck options.

we have used hooverspeed to go to france, they have an option 'high car' (over 1.6 m).

Hi,
We've just usd Hoverspeed and Seafrance.
They have a ''high car'' option at no extra charge.
By the way, Seafrance are offering period return peak (Aug) fares around 65 - 70 GBP at the mo... No, I don't work for them.
