(Home) loss of power, poor acceleration

As a recent owner of the liteace diesel turbo H. reg.I have recently experienced and still suffer from a loss of power which makes it hard work to climb any hill.
The engine rpm on tick over as dropped from 800 to about 650 with the occasional miss and after awhile it will stall. The fault appeared driving at 55mph with a full load of people with no early problems noted. On revving the engine above tick over it seems smooth enough to the ear and when driving it seems smooth to drive but the power output is down and with the foot on the floor it seems to lack a good percentage of any get up and go. any ideas please: Mark London

Try fuel filter (most likely) and air filter (possible) first.
Some system/injector cleaner in the fuel may help.
Have you run it down to empty - may have stirred up gunge in the bottom of the tank?
If it is still a problem come back again.

cheers Clive I will start with the filters the only job thst i have done so far is drain the fuel filter for water a lot of fluid come out but not sure if there was any noticeable amount of water there. I have not run the fuel tank to near empty for about a month. I will give injector cleaner ago.

As a new owner of the liteace turbo diesel i am still feeling my way about all the knobs, switches and gadgets that make these buses fascinating to own and drive but I have come across a few things that I don't know what they are for. As I have the 4wd version I would like to know what is the correct way to engage the 4wd and the lever that changes the gearing too high or low is very stiff and I am not sure how much force is needed to operate this feature also near the auto gear shift at the 2 oclock position there is a small rectangular browny red button that I have no idea what that does. I have also noticed that the green light around the key switch never goes out is this normal? I have read and heard enough that head casket problems is a major fear to owners and cooling is a problem has any body thought or achieved puting in a extra fan, perhaps a overhead electric type attached to the underneath of the cowling. cheers

Mark

This has been addressed in the archives but a quick summary is:
correct procedure for selection of 4WD

stop vehicle
lock both wheel hubs
depress the 4WD button on the dash below 40mph. A green icon appears on the dash when 4WD has been engagaed. Only use on a slippery surface.

The low ratio gear selector should only be engaged when vehicle is stationary after previous sequence has been applied.

The small red button allows you to move the gear shift without the brake pedal being depressed (try it you will see what I mean).

The green light is activated by the door light switches and should go out about 5 seconds after closing the door.

Cooling - plenty of bedtime reading in the archives.

Mark, could it be that this only occurs when the aircon is switched on? It doesn't operate continuously even when "on" and it noticeably reduces the amount of power available.

thanks clive bus going alright now with just a emptying of the fuel filter and STP injection cleaner. took it on a 150 mile run and it did'nt miss a beat. Cheers Ian thanks for your advice the key switch light does not go out so that is something that I will have to look into. Cheers Dave did'nt have the aircon on the kids prefer the windows open.
