(Home) test move of the bok

Hello all,
To enable greater control of postings to the BoK due to recent malicious and vulgar entries, those regular visitors will know what I am referring to, I have set up a test board at the link below.

http://members.spboards.com/index.php?mforum=ukaces

It means that anybody wishing to make a posting will be required to register/log-in but you can view entries as a visitor at any time. It also allows me to delete a users account and all their entries with a single keystroke and block specific e-mail addresses from re registerring.

Although it will still not make the BoK totally free from unwanted visitors it does mean they have to do a little more work in order to cause minimal disruption.

I am not sure how this will fit in with the archives but any comments regarding the test BoK, will be welcomed.

Thank-you

Mark

a shsme the trll has caused this
i do not usually register to unknown sites so how will it effect people who find the bok by accident like i did

Nice one Mark this has to be the way forward.

Jon, no need to worry, people will probably find the new site in the same way as they did this one - a Google search on 'Townace'. If a success then maybe Mark could replace this page with a link to the new site so that infrequent visitors can find their way.

Good idea Mark ... would it be posible to include a ''string'' search facility on this site. I find this forum and Ace answers Sooooooooo valuable but i wish i could search the texts for say ''brake discs'' and come up with references to threads or similar.
Don't get me wrong, I think that you and everyone who gives of their time for these sites are saints and I know the search thing is a bit more complicated than it sounds, but just a tentative suggestion,
Peter

Hello Peter,

I see you have registered on the new site. There is a search facility available on the new site if you look at the top of the page.

You can search new threads or all threads or a specific forum if you want. You can even search for a particular users postings.

What a shame that it's come to this, all because of some moronic excuse of a life form who really should get back to school and play with his lego set and leave the real world to intellegent humans
keep up the good work Mark

I'm sure many of us are watching this thread and the new site to see what comments users have and how the change over will proceed. I'm sure commonsense will prevail and new users will quickly understand and adopt the new requirements.
On a personal note : After reading Edy's post - I apologise for any postings I did NOT make. I'm not as responsive as many of the BOK users to questions - but I'm always polite ( I hope )
P.S. My Blue/Silver Liteace from NI will be in Poole 7th July (8:00am-2:000pm) if anyone in that area ( I know we have some ) wants to shake hands.

Hello,

I would like to stress that over the next few weeks if things are still good with the new site this one will be closed.

I'm glad to see that the member list is now 38 strong meaning that many are already using the new site. There will be a link put directly from the home page taking you to the new BoK.

If you haven't had a look at the new site then take a look and let me know what you think.
