(Home) cruiser carb

Ongoing saga with my carb and tickover.

On reading all the info on the archives and my own information from the Alternator mechanic, I have come to the conclusion that a new carb to block gasket is in order as mine is apparently leaking.

Now this would cause increase in tickover and possible cutting out when cold also the annoying diesel effect I get when shutting off.

Only snag is that these gaskets (called insulators) are £25 a time and have to be ordered from Toyota.

Still lets hope this cures my carb problems.

I'd try with some jointing compound before parting with that amount of cash!

i used the stuff (i dont know what its called) from local factors that you cut to shape for gasgets been working fine since

no compound is advisable. the insulator is about half and inch thick and made of some composite material like hard rubber. the use of any compound blocks the little holes in it and this will cause further problems.

i haven't had sight of it yet so i don't really know the score....

anyway i bought another space cruiser this time a petrol auto which is what i have been looking for and decent ones are few and far between.

still have to repair the other one though.

Can you see where it's leaking- cracks/pinholes?
If it's a surface problem, why not make up a pair of paper gaskets?
