Steve,
They're refering to running you vehicle on Biodiesel - Transesterfication of a vegetable oil to enable it to be combustable in a diesel engine.
It's not a new concept.
Check out (1) the archives for more info on the townace discussion. (2) Do a google search on BioDiesel or "biodiesel forums" for world wide info. (3) Specifically try http://home.earthlink.net/~galiagante/house-biofuel.html or www.bio-power.co.uk or www.journeytoforever.org
On that note - a big thank you to everyone using the Townace forum that passed on this information to me.

I'm in Wesr Wales (near Ammanford) and we have a legal supplier locally. I've been using it for several weeks now, and my Townie has never run better!

It may be true that they are 'officially' running on Bio-diesel but the reality is that the majority of Welsh diesels (excluding Townie owners of course, heaven forbid!) are running on SVO (straight veggie oil to you and me) and they get it from Tesco this week, Budgens next, and Asda the week after .... in fact whoever is offering it at a reduced price to attract customers. The Revenue people in N.Wales at least (where the Nationalists hate the exchequer more than we do) are wise to it and thus are stopping cars (and Townies) at lorry checkpoints for a 'random' test (intelligence led of course). Convictions for revenue avoidance of this type have gone through the roof according to the .gov site. However, the Welsh, being a highly intelligent and mathematically aware people, have worked out the probabilities and are acting accordingly.
SVO smells like Harry Ramsdens at the back ... he wasn't Welsh
