Hello all,
i'm writing out of canada, where i import the masterace and townace 4x4 vans petrol mostly, some deisel. The drivetrains on these are compatible with the north american version of the van for the most part. I'm interested in the hiaces as well, and wonder can anyone tell me what the drivetrain is related to. Are the motors and other related drive gear the same as any other models.ie the surf or hilux or?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

townace= masterace= liteace= spacecruiser= Van

hilux= truck

hilux surf= 4runner

hiace has no N/A equivalent AFAIK. Some engines match the truck, Suspension-wise they're like a big townie, and the transmission would be similar to that in townie or truck although identical to neither.

Your problem is likely to be that jap market Hiaces are mostly diesels, and you've very few similar diesel in NA. Later hiaces and hiluxes of course use a unit with electronic injection that was never officially brought into NA at all...
