(Home) incease in insurance for smaller engine

just bought my first lucida. first reg august 97. I was told in the showroom that it was a 2,200cc 2 wheel drive. i got a quote from Direct line who checked the registration number and advised me that it was a 2,400cc model.
i collected the car today and the log book stated that it was 2,200 and 4 wheel drive. i contacted direct line hopeing for a reduction in the premium. wrong! it was in a higher bracket than the bigger engine. they were not interested if it was 4 or 2 wheel drive.
how can oone tell if ite a 4 or 2 wheel drive?

driveshafts to the front wheels would be a giveaway. Might also be a 4x4 button or light on the dash.

Oh, and if it's a diesel it can't be 2400cc.

The Lucida is full time 4wd, so no button on dash, or just 2WD, but as David says, the give away would be driveshafts on the front wheels, or the 4wd badge on the back. Also as he says, the diesels are ALL 2.2litre 3CT or 3CTE engines. The 2.4 would be a petrol or supercharged petrol. Take a look at the chassis plate & the first part will reveal exacly the model you have e.g. CXR21 or whatever.
