Introduction

This website is about Toyota Townaces, Master Aces and Lite Aces which are exported from Japan after about 10 years of use. For two years now I have taken bulletin board postings, mainly from owners in UK, and organised them into the "Ace Archives" on www.townace.com. That process continues.

Those discussions revealed a lot of valuable maintenance information, from which I edited various summaries. In March 2003, in response to demand for "a manual" I decided it was time to separate my edited summaries from the Archives and begin assembling them into this Handbook in a form which could be printed - either freely from the web or for sale as a traditional manual. Not everyone wants or is able to read it off the web.

Most of the information has been put forward by individual owners who have shared their opinions, knowledge and experiences with a generous "club" spirit. In editing the material into a useful form it is impossible to keep individual contributions separate and I can only acknowledge them here in a general way.

Not only are Townaces etc complicated vehicles but there are many variants and options. This is a further challenge when it comes to presenting this material in a useful form. I have to assume that an owner will use this reference intelligently and rather than confuse the text with comments like, "this does not apply to 2WD models" I leave the reader to discover which bits apply to which variants.
