Layout 3

(top)

A rectangular layout based on the Cornwall Minerals Railway and GWR at Par/St Blazey, Par Harbour, Pinnock tunnel, Fowey and Fowey Jetties. More than half the track will be concealed, for recirculating trains, so lots of gradient. No specific fiddle yard. My thinking is that the priority is to have trains moving in view or parked in visible sidings/yards at stations, or on hidden loops. Two 4-gate crossings, around 25 servo-controlled turnouts, possibly 10 decouplers and 50 precise train-locators. It will be built on three open-frame modules with two access "holes" within the layout. I am anticipating up to 8 locos being controlled simultaneously, with the track divided into up to 32 districts.

Layout 3 track plan showing heights (mm) and radii (inches!). Top left is St Blazey station, bottom left is Par dock with the large "clay dry" shed. The wide blue stripe is the Par river/canal. Centre is Par Junction, centre front is Par beach then through Pinnock tunnel to Fowey, bottom right. Track/bed is still to be installed for the (dark blue) main line through Par Junction over the viaduct in the foreground, and the (green) "loop" from St Blazey to Par Junction.
